How to Change the Active Network Profile Name in Windows 10 Step by Step

The first thing we must do is know by what name our active network is known exactly . To find out we must press the following quick keyboard shortcut :

  • Windows + I.

Once inside “Windows Settings” we click on “Network and Internet”, as in the photo.

In “Settings” we must do the following:

  1. We click on “Status” on the left side of the screen.
  2. In the right section we click on “Network and Shared Resources Center” .

This is where we can see the name of our active network , we must write it down to be able to modify it, as we will explain below.

How to change the name of the network profile with the Windows Registry

To change the network profile name we must enter the Windows 10 registry .

To enter the Windows registry we must give the following key combination:

  • Windows+R

The “Run” window will open in which we must write “regedit.exe” (without quotes) and click “OK” .

Once inside the registry we must follow the steps indicated below:

  1. We enter the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionNetworkListProfiles
  2. In each folder the configuration of the network profile name is saved , we must look for it one by one to be able to find and modify it.
  3. We will right-click the file “ProfileName” and click on “Modify” in the menu .
  4. Once the name of the network that we want to change is located, we only have to rename it and click on “Accept” .

If we go back to the network and sharing center we can see that we have successfully changed the name of our active connection .
