If we use the Mail application on our Mac computer , it is necessary, better mandatory, to activate Privacy Protection .
Process to follow to activate Mail privacy protection
It may be the case that you are using a Mac computer and you have Mail Privacy Protection not activated . If so, our recommendation is that you do what we are going to explain below on a computer with macOS Monterey. (In other versions of macOS it is also activated in the same or similar way).
These are the steps you must follow:
- Open the Mail app on your computer.
- In the top menu click on Mail and select Preferences…
- In the window that opens, click on the Privacy tab . Something like what we indicate in the image below will be displayed.
- We see that we are in Protection of the privacy of Mail . The logical thing is that Protect activity in Mail is checked. If not, you know what to do.
This way the Mail app will hide the IP address on the Mac and as a result all remote content will be loaded in the background privately.
And if we want to disable Mail’s privacy protection…
There’s little point in turning off Mail’s privacy protection, but if you want to, that’s certainly possible, too. Just follow the first three steps above, and in the window that appears, uncheck Protect activity in Mail . We will see something similar to the following:
